A woman from Bethesda, Maryland, said that a budget airline kicked her off her flight, even though she is six months pregnant. The explanation provided was that she had paid “too little” for her ticket, and that, of course, the flight had been overbooked with passengers who paid extra.
The woman in question is Fulvia Fossati. She is a vocal coach whose content revolves around singing and coaching. The clip attached above strayed away from her regular videos, but it quickly became her biggest one to date. It garnered 354,100 views, 44,300 likes, and more than 2,600 comments.
The Maryland woman said that a day before recording the clip, she was on a Frontier Airlines flight while six months pregnant. According to her, just after everyone had boarded the plane, she was approached by staff who told her she had to get off. The reason they gave to her was upsetting, to say the least.
“The only explanation they gave me was basically that I paid too little for my ticket, but I paid the price that they asked. I didn’t come up with the price myself,” Fulvia said.
The woman would then detail that, apparently, the airline had sold her ticket to another passenger who had paid more. Obviously, this came as a shock to her. She tried to advocate for herself, telling the airline staff member that she was in pain and fatigued, mostly due to her pregnancy.
Escorted Off Plane
After telling the staff members about all the hardships she would endure if she were to be kicked off the flight, she was told that there was nothing they could do. And even though, according to her, the staff member said that they would never kick a disabled passenger or a passenger with small children off a flight, the same didn’t apply to pregnant women, for whatever reason.
In the end, both Fulvia and her husband got escorted off the plane by multiple officers. She ended up arriving home way later than expected, as no solution was provided to them by anyone. According to the Maryland woman, Frontier never gave them a refund or an apology. She then proceeded to blast them for the mistreatment she received.
“I think that pregnant women get support and care and respect all around the world, but not with Frontier Airlines. [… ] Up to what point the greed of these companies is going to destroy what a human being means?” she added.
Reactions
The video sparked multiple responses.
Many viewers told the Maryland woman to take action, as pregnant women such as Fulvia are a protected class. One said, “You need to file a complaint and sue them.” Another one commented, “Please, get a lawyer as soon as possible.”
Others were shocked by how Frontier allegedly overbooks its flights for the sake of profit. One wrote, “That literally makes no sense to me. It’s not fair all around.” Another one, after learning about Fulvia’s story, said, “I just changed my tickets to Delta! Thank you!“
The Maryland woman has not provided an update on whether Frontier contacted her after she posted the video. Meanwhile, Frontier’s TikTok account is flooded with angry users calling them out.
