Sometimes, it’s nice just to be remembered. This is especially true when it’s something as important as, say, an anniversary, or perhaps a birthday. When a pregnant North Carolina mom’s birthday rolls around, she’s sure her husband has something great planned. However, she soon finds out that he completely forgot about her special day. Over a span of several videos, she shows how the worst birthday she’s ever had went for her.
Haley Brooks (@haleybrookshouse) posted a TikTok video titled, “Let’s see if my husband remembers that today is my birthday…” The video, which was recorded in the morning, shows her waiting for breakfast from him. She waits hours before giving up and throwing frozen french toast sticks in the oven. She also hangs up one pitiful decoration in the hopes that it will remind him of her big day. By 11 a.m., she says, “Looks like he forgot the breakfast part” and she can’t figure out where he went. By 12:30 p.m., she realizes he didn’t even wish her a happy birthday.
While she’s taking care of her baby throughout the day as an already-tired pregnant mom, you can tell the hope is leaving her eyes. However, by 5:30 p.m., he tells her he’s going out to get her birthday surprise. She asks her audience, “Do you think he forgot or has a real surprise up his sleeve…?” When he returns, he has a box of pizza, some soda, and some chips for her. In the video, she can be seen covering her face with her hands, defeated.
In an update post, Haley explained that her husband was “100% wrong” for not making her birthday special. She said he will be “fully held accountable for his lack of effort.” She also stated, “I do deserve better treatment and have expressed that moving forward.” Communication is definitely key in any relationship.
Commenters were happy to hear that Haley made her feelings known after she was forgotten on her own birthday by her very own husband. One person commented, “Just give him the same amount of energy for his upcoming birthday” like a revenge tactic. Another person suggested that she take a different approach next year. They said, “Next year, plan your own day. Take the day off, leave him at home with the kiddos.” That doesn’t sound like a bad idea and then she can plan her birthday how she wants to. It’s a win-win!
