Meghan Markle makes headway in her relationship with Netflix, further shunting Prince Harry amid their professional split. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced a huge blow in their career last week after the streamer reportedly opted not to renew their $100 million multi-year deal when it expires in September. Reports attributed this to Netflix bosses deciding the arrangement had “run its course,” with barely anything more to reap from the Sussexes. This followed the couple’s failure to attract impressive streaming numbers with their latest shows since the one-time success of the docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which broke streaming records after its release in 2021.
Both parties decided to part ways amicably, with Netflix execs aware of Markle’s new priorities as she focuses on her lifestyle brand, As Ever. Following reports of this split with Netflix, new reports suggest Meghan Markle may have a new deal in place, one that does not fully involve her husband, Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle Negotiates New Deal With Netflix

According to The Mail on Sunday, the duchess is in negotiations with the streamer to reach an agreement on a new deal. While the details remain confidential, the source confirmed that the agreement would not involve the same financial benefits as Harry and Meghan’s initial contract with Netflix. The insider divulged,
“Make no mistake, a deal is being worked through as we speak.”
The source explained that Meghan’s show falls with Netflix’s “top third,” and hence, put her in line for a new deal with the streamer. Additionally, the streamer has a major stake in the Duchess’ As Ever venture, making them less likely to drop her. Yet, as with all contract proceedings, the negotiations would remain under wraps until the deal’s conclusion and implementation.
The first show that would air as part of the new Netflix contract would reportedly be the second season of Meghan Markle’s cooking show, With Love, Meghan. Following its premiere in March 2025, the actress-turned-royal-turned-entrepreneur announced that the show would return for a second season in the near future, ultimately sparking chatter about the possibility of Netflix renewing their multimillion-dollar deal. However, the show disappointed both in viewer ratings, ranking 383 on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows of 2025, with 5.3 million views.
Prince Harry Prepares For First Blow After Professional Separation

While the numbers are meager compared to her initial Netflix hit, Harry and Meghan, the 43-year-old’s cooking show far exceeded the performance of all of Harry’s previous solo Netflix projects. His latest, Polo, released in December 2024, amassed only 500,000 streams on the platform, ranking 3,436 on the Netflix most-watched list. Given his less-than-impressive record, Netflix’s interest in renewing its contract with the exiled Prince may not be as pressing.
The outlet claimed that Prince Harry would “form a major part” of Meghan Markle’s new contract with Netflix. However, his fate with the streamer remains on a cliffhanger. The prospect of Harry being left out of the full benefits of the potentially juicy Netflix offer is more likely given the couple’s new approach to their career since their “professional separation.” This professional split has seen Harry and Meghan embrace individual pursuits, building their brands as individuals, as against their initial plans to stand as a united force.
Going their separate ways professionally has especially worked out for Meghan Markle, who seems to have attained more success in her entrepreneurial journey, as well as her showbiz pursuits, leaving Harry miles behind. This disparity could potentially build rancor between the duo, especially with the constant comparisons of their respective successes– a particularly volatile situation for Harry and Meghan, who are already deeply engulfed in divorce rumors. Although the two have continued to showcase themselves publicly as a happily married pair embracing life in California as a family of four, it’s only a matter of time before the impact of these rumors and comparisons back them into a corner, faced between family and career.
