Prince Harry visited the UK to attend his court appeal hearing in his security case. However, just because he was in London doesn’t mean he had anything to do with the royal family. Instead of visiting his father, King Charles, who is currently battling cancer, the monarch opted to leave town for a visit and to celebrate his wedding anniversary with wife Queen Camilla without a father-son reunion. A royal insider now says that seeing Harry simply wasn’t a priority for Charles.
According to Newsweek, Prince Harry arrived in the UK on Sunday, ahead of his court appearance. However, he didn’t have time to see his father. Instead, the following day, King Charles left the country to visit Italy with Queen Camilla. The two had a state visit planned and were also celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary together.
“I honestly don’t think it’s a priority for the king,” royal expert Robert Jobson told the outlet. “I think it’s sad but given what’s going on, he’s undergoing his chemotherapy, he’s very busy, Harry hasn’t exactly enamored himself to the queen or to his brother. Given what’s gone on what does he expect?”
Prince Harry Meeting Simply Not A Priority For King Charles
“The king is very busy, and was about to leave to go on a state visit. He’s not going to make a massive change to his plans just because his son’s flying in,” Jobson continued. The commentator revealed that people may find it strange, but Charles simply won’t uproot his royal duties or set plans for an impromptu visit with Harry.
The icy treatment is nothing knew to Prince Harry. As the youngest son of King Charles, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, have sparked a lot of controversy within the royal family. In 2020 the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were leaving their royal duties behind. They later sat down for a scathing tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Since that time, both Harry and Meghan have criticized the royal family. Harry even wrote a memoir titled Spare, which detailed his troubles and feelings about growing up in the monarchy. Currently, the Sussexes live in California. Harry has been back to the UK a handful of times since his royal exit. However, Meghan hasn’t returned, and neither have their children, Archie and Lilibet.
As King, Charles likely has a long list of responsibilities and priorities. However, visiting with Prince Harry allegedly isn’t one of them at the moment. Instead, it was business as usual for the monarch as he and Queen Camilla jetted off to Italy for their multi-faceted trip.
