Prince Harry takes on another legal squabble after winning a court case against The Sun newspapers in a bid to ensure the future security of his wife and kids. The Duke of Sussex made major strides in his legal war against the press last week after Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper, The Sun, admitted, for the first time ever, to gathering private information about him via illegal means between 1996 and 2011.
News Group Newspapers, the company that publishes The Sun offered an “unequivocal apology” to the Duke for all the mishaps their actions caused to him and his late mom Princess Diana. They also agreed to pay Prince Harry “substantial damages” resolving the long-running court case for good.
Prince Harry to Hit the Court Again Over UK Security

After his “monumental victory” against the Sun publishers and the impressive settlement, Prince Harry is more pumped up to face his next court battle come April 2025. The case, centered around the 40-year-old’s bid to secure taxpayers-funded UK police security for himself, his wife Meghan Markle, and their kids Archie and Lilibeth. Harry believes this quest would ensure the safety of his family on UK soil. Speaking to Radar Online, a royal source divulged,
“Prince Harry has a clear aim: He seeks to protect the safety of himself and his family during their time in the UK.”
The royal insider explained that winning the case against the British government and securing his UK police security is important for Prince Harry and his kids. Not only would the security privileges enable the estranged prince to bring his kids along to his home country during visits to better “connect with their heritage,” it would also give him a better chance to support his UK patronages.
Last year, Prince Harry’s battle for public-funded police protection in the UK reached a roadblock after a London Judge ruled against him. Judge Peter Lane rejected his bid to reinstate his security in a 51-page ruling last February after being stripped following his step down from royal duties and UK exit. Judge Peter Lane ruled that the UK government did not act irrationally by stripping the Duke off security privileges. However, Harry’s legal team immediately launched a request to appeal the London judge’s decision, securing permission from The Court of Appeal in May 2024. The appeal case is set to commence in April this year, giving the prince another chance to fight for the future of his kids.
Harry Eager to Win UK Police Protection Ahead of Divorce

The royal source then weighed in on the “separation” rumors plaguing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for months now. According to the insider, if these speculations had basis and the Sussexes do separate, Prince Harry would have to make future UK trips alone with his two children, making the need for round-the-clock police security more paramount. The source divulged,
“He [Harry] is also facing up so very strong and continued speculation about his marriage to Meghan and this will feed into his desire to feel safe when he visits the UK because future trips with his children could be made alone.”
While Harry and Meghan have notably faced countless divorce rumors since their royal wedding, this latest wave stems from the duo’s new approach to their career. The two, who previously brandished themselves as a single brand, appeared to undertake a “professional separation” last year. By implication, each continues pursuing separate career ventures, making solo trips, and launching individual projects. Although the strategy seems to be paying off, it has also fueled the divorce rumors as many believe this newly adopted “solo” approach to their careers only indicates trouble in paradise.
