Prince Harry may be facing a dilemma after his former hairdresser urged him to take a big step and do something about his thinning hair. The Duke of Sussex seems to have the bald gene, as his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, also struggle with thinning hair. Now, Harry is being savagely trashed online by the man who used to cut his hair as a child, and he’s not holding back.
Hairdresser Sam McKnight, who used to cut Prince Harry’s hair as well as worked with his famous mother, Princess Diana, is calling for a change. McKnight says that it’s time for Harry to do something about his balding look. The barber claims that he’d love to see the royal do something drastic and try a hair transplant. However, he also encourages Harry to bite the bullet and shave his head if he’s not interested in a procedure.
McKnight took to his social media account this week to share his unfiltered thoughts on Harry’s mane. The red-headed prince still has quite a bit of hair, but his locks are noticeably thinning on top and in the back.
“It’s time Harry! Many moons ago, when you and your brother were young boys, you both had the most magnificent, thick healthy crowning glories, just like mum,” the barber wrote on Instagram. “Many an afternoon was spent with me thinning and shaping the topiary! However, just like myself, the lush hedging is no more, a mere wisp or two of its former self.
All is not lost, however, a good short clip at the barbers (like your big brother has done recently) would look sharp and clean, and take years off that handsome face,” he added. “If I were your age I’d go for a transplant, so much more natural these days, unlike the plug plants of yore.”

McKnight also told The Telegraph that Harry’s hair looks “horrible,” and that it’s time that he sorts himself out instead of “hanging on to these little wisps.”
According to The Sun, hair expert Dr. Asim Shahmalak has revealed that Harry’s bald patch has nearly doubled in size since he married wife Meghan Markle in 2018.
In the past, Harry has joked about Prince William’s issues with hair loss. In his memoir, Spare, Harry called William’s baldness “alarming.” However, over the years, William has seemingly embraced his hair loss and now has whatever hair he has left shaved into a short cut. He even won the title of Sexiest Bald Man in 2021 (via People Magazine). Meanwhile, it may be William who is now getting the last laugh as Harry’s hair loss is a hot topic of conversation.
As previously reported by Radar Online, there has been talk that Prince Harry’s thinning spots have been covered up with editing online. His thinning hair doesn’t seem to be as bad as his brother and father. However, as the years go by it seems that Harry may have to address the problem by figuring out a way to live with his hair loss. Maybe he’ll follow in his brother’s footsteps and embrace the baldness with a shorter hairstyle.
Whether Prince Harry decides to shave his head, get a hair transplant, or let his hair loss progress naturally, it seems that his look has definitely gotten under the skin of his former hairdresser. Although it’s unlikely that Harry will be calling McKnight for cut anytime soon after his scathing Instagram post.
