Prince Harry‘s bid to secure UK security privileges for himself and his family takes another twist as the royal presents new arguments during an appeal hearing in a London courtroom. Last year, the Duke of Sussex won a request to appeal the UK government’s decision to revoke his taxpayers-funded police protection. His request to appeal followed a court ruling in February 2025 declaring that the government’s decision to provide the Prince access to only “bespoke” security on an “as needed” basis after his royal stepdown was not unlawful. After much anticipation, Prince Harry had his day in court to appeal his case with fresh arguments that may overturn the initial dismissal.
The 40-year-old appeared at London’s High Court this week for the latest round of his security battle, challenging the previous ruling and the government panel’s decision. In his court argument, Prince Harry’s team claimed he was singled out for “different, unjustified and inferior treatment,” citing Ravec’s “bespoke” arrangement tailor-made for him. The legal team also called out Ravec’s failure to “apply its own terms of reference,” alleging the body, responsible for providing security for royals and public figures, did not get an assessment from the Risk Management Board, an “expert specialist body.”
Prince Harry’s Team Claims His Life Is At Stake Amid Security Squabbles

On the second day of his court appearance, Prince Harry’s team followed with more interesting arguments to wrap up the two-day appeal. The closing submissions included a claim by Harry’s barrister Shaheed Fatim KC that the Duke’s safety, security, and life are at stake. She added,
“There is a person sitting behind me who’s been told he is getting a special bespoke process when he knows, in his experience, it is a process that is manifestly inferior in every sense. His presence here and throughout this appeal is a potent demonstration of how much this appeal means to him and his family.”
Right after the barrister concluded her argument, Prince Harry, seated behind her in court, placed his right hand over his face, as if “processing the weight of the moment,” per People. Additionally, he kept taking notes in his jotter throughout the hearing as his team put in their best efforts to score him and his family better security arrangements. In one instance, the dad of two appeared to toss his pen in exasperation while pulling “a face expressing disbelief.”
Harry’s Closing Arguments Spark Outrage After Two-Day Hearing

Netizens have since ripped into the Prince’s reactions throughout the London appeal hearing, dubbing it “dramatic” and “nauseating.” One Reddit user mocked,
“The Manbaby is throwing a tantrum. So what else is new??? Did he not get a jar of Meghan’s Scamjam too?”
Another jeered,
“Shaheed Fatima KC is playing the role with a straight bat, IMO. I can only imagine the random jottings she gets passed to her from Harry.”
A third wrote,
“He’s like a little boy who throws his toys down when he’s mad. He didn’t get his way. Waughhhh.”

The fresh arguments his team presented also sparked outrage among royal fans. They accused his legal representatives of implying that Prince Harry’s presence in court made him entitled to getting his way, citing the barrister’s statement portraying Prince Harry’s court appearance as an indication of the importance of the appeal to him. One Redditor spat,
“Wait wait wait wait. Did they just imply that him actually SHOWING UP for the court case HE issued and is using TAXPAYER money for is a big deal???!”
Another fired,
“Harry’s thinking: ‘I’ve shown up, now give me what I want. I’m a very important person, you know? You’re lucky I’m here!'”
Another critic tried to clarify if the closing arguments indeed suggested Harry “should get an appeal not for any legal reason but because it means a lot to him and his family (his wife with a grandiose sense of importance).” A fourth wrote on Reddit,
“This is so embarrassing for him. I mean, really, I’m embarrassed for him. 😳 It means a lot to him? Is that really the argument?? This is truly pathetic.”
A fifth commenter added,
“The entitlement is off the charts!”
Aside from the legal back and forth that played out in the courtroom over the security dilemma, Prince Harry’s appeal hearing had some dramatic moments. In one instance, a woman lashed out at the press in support of the exiled prince. The woman, who accused the press of being the reason Harry “is not in England,” also screamed her support for the prince as he rushed out of the court during a break preceding a private session. The activities discussed during the private session would be made public once the Duke of Sussex’s team reaches an agreement with the Home Office.
