Before Meghan Markle came into the picture, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry had over half a decade to develop a connection, between family dinners, royal duties, and annual trips to Balmoral Castle. The duo became so close, that Harry deemed her the sister he never had. In came Meghan, who established her position as the love of Harry’s life. After a year run as the inseparable “awesome foursome,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to bid it all farewell and resume a new life in the United States. But that came at the cost of the once-celebrated connections.
Prince Harry’s worsening relationship with his family was further proven this month when the royals exempted him from the annual Summer trip to Balmoral in Scotland. Other senior royals including King Charles and Queen Camilla, William and Kate, their kids, the monarch’s siblings, along with their children all received invitations to the family’s annual gathering.
Kate Middleton Won’t Pressure Husband to Reconcile With Prince Harry
While this vacation has given the royals ample time to recharge after a whirlwind year, it’s also highlighted the vacuum left by the Sussexes’ absence. Christopher Anderson, author of The King weighed in on the significance of Prince Harry and Meghan’s absence, especially to Kate Middleton, who forged a close bond with him during her earlier years as a royal. At such times, the Princess can’t but reminisce on those days, and how much she wants to have the brothers’ kiss and makeup. He divulged,
“Kate was close to Harry, true. They had a special bond. They shared the same goofy sense of humor and laughed at the same jokes. Harry often said Kate was the sister he never had. Of course, Kate would like nothing better than to have the brothers kiss and make up. It would be one less cloud hanging over the royal family’s head.”
Despite her desire to watch her husband and brother-in-law reconcile, the 42-year-old has no intention of leading the peace talks. The author explained that Kate Middleton, who recently stepped out for a church service in Balmoral, completely understood her husband’s anger at Prince Harry. And being “loyal to her husband” above all else, the last thing she would do is pressure him to for a reconciliation.
The Royals Made a Statement With Harry’s Balmoral Snub
With no hopes of reconciliation on the horizon, Prince Harry’s relationship with his dad and brother would continue on a downward spiral. Their failure to invite the Sussexes to Balmoral all but proves that. Christopher divulged,
“The last time Harry was at Balmoral Castle was in September 2022, when his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, died there. His absence from Balmoral this summer is just one more sign that the royal family – Kate included – prefer to have Harry out of sight and out of mind for the time being.”
So far, the palace has strived to protect Kate Middleton from the drama between Prince Harry and the royal family. Keeping her away from the drama would enable the princess to focus on her ongoing cancer treatment and recovery. King Charles reportedly takes a similar approach when dealing with his younger son, with sources claiming he no longer takes Harry’s calls. Perhaps, a break from the drama would offer the royals a new perspective on family, and by a stroke of luck, give room for the peace Kate Middleton craves.
