Prince Harry‘s return to the UK is imminent, but the fate of his relationship with Meghan Markle presents complications, an expert claims. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took a step back from the royal family and accompanying duties in 2020. They have since moved to the United States, with their exit plagued by family tensions and negative press.
Four years into the independent life, and its tiring scandals; Prince Harry may already be rethinking his decision. Royal biographer Hugo Vickers shared his thoughts on the Duke’s UK future, and what it entails for his marriage. Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive, Hugo explained that the 39-year-old had some underlying fears and anger centered around the possibility of losing his wife.
Yet, the royal biographer considers this an inevitable outcome no matter how petrified the prince might feel. Hugo believes this to be the unavoidable first step necessary should Prince Harry ever decide to return to the UK. When royal editor Matt Wilkinson asked where he saw Harry and Meghan in 20 years, he responded by dramatically pulling his hands apart, indicating a potential split. He added, “I think he will come home.”
Going further, Hugo urged citizens to offer Prince Harry a warm UK reception whenever he does return. According to him, the dad of two would not particularly want to come home as “he’s quite angry.” Regardless, he knew Harry’s father, King Charles, would happily welcome him. Hugo also expressed concerns about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle, saying,
“Usually, you’re happy when you’re doing your duty and you’re doing it for other people and you’re putting things into life,” he added. “If you’re taking things out of life, at the risk of getting a lot of hate mail, I personally think that he looks like he’s petrified of losing her [Meghan] and looks slightly petrified of her.”
Viewing the future of the Susexes through Hugo Vickers’ lens, a possible divorce is lurking somewhere in the future for Harry and Meghan. Even worse, that could become the passport for Prince Harry’s UK return. This isn’t the first divorce prediction to hit the couple since their marriage. In fact, speculations suggesting the duo facing marital pressure that threatens their union have flooded the media in recent times.
Yet, on the surface, the two continue to put on a united front. While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s future is certainly not etched in stone, there is no denying that their fallout with the royal family would only become more complicated with time should it go unchecked, further compromising the future of the British monarchy.
