The leak was true after all. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has now been officially confirmed through the Ubisoft Forward live stream event. Prince of Persia Remake will launch on January 21, 2021, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC via Uplay and Epic Games. Yep, no Steam or Switch release, unfortunately.
The game is built by the India-branch Ubisoft Pune using the same engine as Assassin’s Creed. And honestly for a next-generation release, the visual doesn’t look too hot. Sure you can blame it for being a cross-generation release. But it looks almost like a late seventh-generation (Xbox 360, PS3 era) release. See for yourself through the trailer below.
Prince of Persia Remake will be a retelling of the 2003’s The Sands of Time. As ‘The Prince’, you will embark on a journey to save your kingdom from the treacherous Vizier with the help of Maharaja’s daughter Farah and the time-manipulating power of Dagger of Time. But that’s not all! The game comes with the original 1989 Prince of Persia mini-game that you can access from the main menu whenever you want as well. Not bad as a bonus.
Ubisoft has opened pre-orders for Prince of Persia Remake over at the Ubi Store. If you do pre-order it, you will get access to the ‘Back to the Origins Set’, which includes:
- Original Prince skin.
- Original Weapons set.
- Classic Filter to change how your game looks.
Maybe with the filter, the game won’t look as bad as the trailer, I hope?
Hopefully, news about another Rayman game or Beyond Good and Evil 2 are coming after this year’s Ubisoft Forward. What do you think of this remake? Looks fine, could be better? What other Ubisoft remakes are you hoping for? Share with us your thoughts by dropping in the comments below.
