This ultimately stifles any chances of Harry ever making a heroic UK comeback.
The royal family made a surprising move this weekend by extending birthday wishes to Prince Harry as he turned 40 on September 15. This bolstered the speculations of a reconciliation between Harry, King Charles, and by any stroke of luck, Prince William. According to Vanity Fair, one insider claimed that while the birthday wish could indeed be the King’s olive branch to his younger son, it would require a lot more than a milestone birthday to reconcile the royal brothers. The source noted,
“It’s going to take more than Harry turning 40 to soften the rift between the two of them.”
King Charles Reportedly Spoke to Harry on His Birthday Despite Prince Williams’ Reluctance
The monarch on the other hand is taking more proactive steps to mend his relationship with his estranged son. Aside from the public post acknowledging Prince Harry’s birthday, royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has reasons to believe King Charles spoke to his younger son on said day. According to her, sources close to the King insist he called up Harry on his birthday in an attempt to keep their relationship “back on track.” She noted,
“It was always the King’s intention to publicly acknowledge his son’s 40th, and I’m sure the king will have spoken to Harry on his birthday.”
A conversation between the father-son duo would indeed be an invaluable step in their reconciliation. Sources previously revealed Prince Harry had tried severally to reach his dad to no avail, as King Charles no longer took his phone calls or responded to his letters. The sources close to the 40-year-old claimed even his attempts to reach out to his dad concerning his health were also met with “complete silence.” Whatever changed between the pair since then remains a mystery. Hopefully, Prince William will someday have a similar motivation to straighten things out with his brother and welcome him wholeheartedly into the royal fold should Harry attempt a royal comeback.
