It looks like Kate Middleton‘s family is bonding as she fights off cancer on both the royal and non-royal sides. Prince William was recently spotted at a pub with Carole Middleton, his mother-in-law, who was visiting the Prince and Princess of Wales for Easter. The couple announced that they would be spending the holiday privately following Kate’s cancer diagnosis in March; two weeks later, Prince William and his mother-in-law appear to be spending some quality time with each other and without Kate present.
Prince William and Carole Middleton Visit A Pub Together – Bonding, or Do They Need a Break?
In January, Kate went under the knife for abdominal surgery while her father-in-law, King Charles III, underwent a “routine medical exam” regarding his enlarged prostate. Rumors surrounding the Princess of Wales’ health began to swirl after Charles’s results came back with a cancer diagnosis, and speculation only grew as the public became convinced that the royal family was hiding something about Kate. On March 22nd, Kate came forward with the official announcement that her surgery had uncovered cancer, and that she and William had wanted to postpone the announcement to give their three children time to process the news private.
In the wake of her diagnosis, the press coverage surrounding the Middleton family has understandably picked up. Carole Middleton, Kate’s mother, reportedly spent Easter visiting William, Kate, and their three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. This past weekend, Prince William and his mother-in-law were spotted together in a pub in what a royal correspondent tells Us Weekly was a pretty quiet moment for the Prince of Wales.
“I’m told he popped into a pub in North Norfolk at the weekend with his mother-in-law, who is said to have been staying with the Prince and Princess of Wales for Easter…It was all very low-key, with no great fanfare. He just walked in and through the pub. He appeared to be with Carole Middleton.”

The royal family hasn’t released any official statements about the outing, and it’s likely that they won’t. While the public can speculate regarding what Prince William was doing with his mother-in-law, or why they were meeting without Kate present, it’s possible that the pair were just spending some quality time together in the wake of life-changing news that Kate has said was a “huge shock” to their family.
