King Charles suffers a sudden health crisis amid cancer treatment, leading to his brief hospitalization, but he continues enjoying the supportive presence of those dearest, including his sister Princess Anne. The King of the UK has faced the weight of his health concerns since his cancer diagnosis back in February 2024. As part of his treatment, the monarch has tried various methods, from local herbs to English medicine, often trying out experimental treatments like cannabis. Sometimes, these treatments tend to take their toll on the monarch, presenting undesirable side effects.
On Thursday, Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles underwent a “scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer” earlier that day, but wound up experiencing temporary side effects. As a result, the cancer-stricken monarch had to spend a short time at the hospital under observation, but has now returned to Clarence House. Princess Anne has since shown concern for her brother in the wake of his hospitalization.
Princess Anne Visits King Charles After Hospitalization

The Princess Royale stopped by at Clarence House and was photographed leaving the property on Friday morning in a black Bentley. Shortly after her sweet visit, King Charles also pulled out in an Audi, appearing in high spirits as he waved at fans and well-wishers through the window, possibly heading to his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, per Hello!. The sighting marked King Charles’ first since his hospitalization over side effects from his cancer treatment.
In the statement announcing his hospitalization, the palace revealed that the monarch would have to postpone “his diary of programs” scheduled for Friday, March 28, on medical advice. The palace apologized for all scheduled royal engagements canceled or postponed due to the King’s sudden health crisis, and all those “who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.” Notably, King Charles had a planned visit to Birmingham on Friday for a string of engagements, and felt “greatly disappointed” at having to make the decision to reschedule them. The statement added,
“He very much hopes that they can be rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible.”
Royal Fans Worried About British Monarch’s Health

Royals are not the only ones concerned about the King’s declining health. Brits and royal fans across the world have turned to various media platforms to extend well-wishes to King Charles as he battles this phase. Many have also shared their similar experiences with cancer, in the hopes of reassuring the monarch he wasn’t alone in the journey. One well-wisher penned,
“Hope he gets better or at least not too rough a road ahead. Cancer doesn’t care about money and titles. Cancer doesn’t care if you have the best health care money and influence can buy.”
Palace sources remain hopeful for a positive prognosis, describing King Charles’ latest health crisis and hospitalisation as “a most minor bump in the road” headed in the right direction, per The Times. Just days back, palace sources revealed the King has been trying experimental drugs, embracing every method in the book, and some that aren’t, in his cancer treatment.
Some of these methods, including the use of medical cannabis, have proven helpful, especially in the aspect of pain alleviation. Regardless, he’s continued to put up a happy front before his people, always in high spirits during public outings. Without sad reminders such as this one popping up occasionally, one could easily overlook and forget the disheartening fact that Charles draws closer to the end with each passing day.
