If you’ve been interested in playing PUBG: Battlegrounds on Steam but not curious enough to fork over $29.99, you are finally in luck. From now through August 16th, PC folks can play every mode in PUBG: Battlegrounds at no extra cost, courtesy of what publisher KRAFTON, Inc. is calling its Free Play Week. (A fitting name, to be sure.)
PUBG: Free Play Week Includes…
Players who check out PUBG Free Play Week will have complete access to every facet of the game, including every battle map, the 10-stage Zombie Survival mode, and even the latest hot crossover event “BLACKPINK X PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS.” Caps lock is evidently still cruise control for cool in the year 2021, but then, K-Pop fans will find a lot to love in this collaboration, like building decals, plane banners, and supply crate thematic changes. That’s pretty neat.
PUBG: Battlegrounds PC newcomers interested in taking advantage of Free Play Week will simply need to download the game on Steam and dive in. You’ll then need to create a global account, which will earn you a unique item called the “Traditional Glasses-Round.” Sporty sunglasses are hip and happening, right? It’s important to look suave whilst surviving perilous odds in an ever-decreasing game world hellbent on suffocating anyone who dares hide behind a barrel overlong.
What About Other Platforms?
While console and mobile players will be unable to take advantage of Free Play Week, at least phone-touting PUBG: Battlegrounds fans have some bragging rights — the game makes serious bank on iOS and Android. Then again, I suppose that doesn’t really mean much unless you’re an investor with the company, but… hey, it sure does signify some serious mobile longevity in the years to come.
Wait… What’s With That Title?
Somewhat beside the point, but you may be wondering why we’re talking about Free Play Week for a game called… PUBG: Battlegrounds. Doesn’t that technically just mean… PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds? Yeah, uh, it does. I promise you this is not an issue with the author of this article. I have many issues, but identifying video games by their proper name isn’t one of them. This is officially what the game is now called. So, yeah. You cannot enjoy Free Play Week for the game entitled PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. That would be silly. Free Play Week is for PUBG: Battlegrounds. Is this where we play the “yo dawg” meme card?
We heard you like Battlegrounds, so we put some Battlegrounds in Battlegrounds, so now you can play Battlegrounds while you play Battlegrounds. Makes sense!
