First revealed back in December 2015, First 4 Figures is producing a statuette of Puppet Zelda from Twilight Princess. Pre-orders are still open and the number of available statues is not currently known. Puppet Zelda will cost a total of $350 with a required initial payment of $20 and stands 15 inches high. The product will ship in Q3 2016.
Puppet Zelda is the first part of Twilight Princess’s four-phase final showdown with Ganondorf. Taken over and controlled by his evil will, Zelda floats in the air, launching magical attacks at Link, who must defeat her in several rounds of “death tennis” by sending her attacks back at her. If one listens carefully, a corrupted version of Zelda’s Lullaby plays during the encounter.
First, 4 Figures calls this latest creation the sixth statue in the “Master Arts” line of Twilight Princess characters. The previous five consisted of Zant, Princess Zelda (the not-possessed one), Ganondorf, Link riding on Epona, and Midna riding atop wolf Link. Of those, only Ganondorf is still available, as the rest have gone out of stock. For those interested, the king of evil is 23 inches tall (!) and costs $450. There’s plenty of him to go around, with 1,750 statues in stock.
As with other statues released in a series by First 4 Figures, Puppet Zelda ships in artistic full-color packaging and boasts a hand-numbered base and authenticity card allowing for collectors to obtain future statues of the same serial number. A quick check on eBay reveals mostly the older Zelda figures for upwards of $300 and many overpriced Ganondorf statues, some of which are the sold out exclusive version. The poly stone masterpieces are certainly tantalizing, but will ever remain a pipe dream for mere mortals who don’t have the good fortune to find hundreds of dollars in every other treasure chest lying around.
