But that hasn’t stopped either from going about their duties and royal engagements in a more fervent manner, with Kate Middleton perhaps going a bit too far with her willingness to lead. She’s gone so far, in fact, that she’s reportedly getting on Queen Camilla’s nerves.
A source speaking to International Business Times claims that Queen Camilla is quite displeased with how Kate Middleton has been running things as of late, causing some Palace drama between the two. Princess Catherine is under the mindset that every senior royal needs to prove that everything they do offers value in the public eye. Every action and decision needs to matter; if not, the royal’s workload should be streamlined to what does. Any engagements that offer no “real charitable impact” need to be removed. All this sounds good on paper, but Camilla is not having it in the slightest.
“The old guard is not happy about this, especially Queen Camilla, who does not appreciate being told what standard she has to meet. But Kate is stronger than people think and she is not stepping back.”
The source goes on to claim that Kate Middleton’s influence isn’t just in ceremonies or how royals are supposed to act. She was allegedly one of the individuals who had a say in getting the former Prince Andrew evicted from his home and his royal title removed. This isn’t surprising, considering how the Palace issued a formal statement saying that all the controversy Andrew had been causing was disrupting King Charles’ and the Royal Family’s work. Still, it goes to show how much impact Kate Middleton has in royal matters, which could likely be more than the general public realizes.
Critics Argue that Kate Middleton Is Avoiding Responsibility With Her New Rules
However, not everyone is happy with the stricter direction Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to be steering the ship in, especially regarding this new drama with Queen Camilla. “Why would Kate tell Camilla what to do? Kate is not the monarch,” questioned a commenter. “😒 This sounds like the kind of story Kate and Will’s people would ‘leak’ without any accountability,” groans another. Another argued that Kate’s decision to cut out anything unnecessary from royal duties is just her trying to avoid more responsibility.
That said, more significant changes are yet to come, based on what Prince William said during an interview with Eugene Levy. And it would seem from this report that Kate Middleton also has plans for major changes she’s already putting into action.
