Disgraced R&B star R. Kelly prison nightmare has taken a terrifying new turn. The singer now claims he was intentionally overdosed by North Carolina prison staff while held in solitary confinement. Over the weekend, he was rushed to the hospital. But it doesn’t end there, Kelly was also diagnosed with a life-threatening condition that could kill him if left untreated.
R. Kelly’s legal team reveals the incident unfolded shortly after Kelly was placed in isolation at the Federal Correctional Institution in Butner, North Carolina. The performer, who reportedly takes medication for anxiety and sleep issues, claims that the dose he received was dangerously high and nearly cost him his life.

He was rushed to a nearby medical facility and spent two days being treated after collapsing in his cell. This news comes just days after Kelly went before the judge begging to swap federal prison for house arrest.
R. Kelly reportedly woke up in solitary, feeling lightheaded, dizzy, and weak. He allegedly crawled to the cell door before losing consciousness completely. His attorney says the overdose happened almost immediately after going public with claims about his client’s confinement, which he called a retaliatory move, according to People.
Now, Kelly’s team is pushing even harder for emergency relief and has filed a third supplement to a motion seeking a temporary release or house arrest due to life-threatening risks.
Karma Hits Hard As R. Kelly’s Prison Life Spirals Out Of Control
On top of the alleged murder plot that R. Kelly and his legal team say has put a target on his back, the disgraced star now faces another threat to his life.
Kelly also claims he’s been diagnosed with blood clots in both his legs and lungs, and that surgery was recommended by doctors. However, he adds, prison officials reportedly denied the procedure, citing the required week-long recovery period as the reason.

His lawyer alleges the denied surgery, combined with the overdose, is proof that prison officials are putting his life at another serious risk. No court date has been set yet, but Kelly’s legal team is now eyeing the White House.
His lawyer says he’s been speaking with individuals close to President Donald Trump in hopes of securing a pardon. Kelly previously lived in Trump Tower Chicago but has no known personal ties to Trump.
“Within an hour, officers with guns came into his hospital room and removed Mr. Kelly. He was taken from the hospital against his will and the directives of the doctors.” Attorney, Beau B. Brindley, alleges that Kelly “was denied the surgery he needs to clear blood clots in his lungs that threaten his life” and was returned to solitary confinement at the prison.
“He is not safe in federal custody,” Brindley says. “And to keep him in prison while he is under threat like this is cruel and unusual punishment.“
Many believe it’s starting to look like karmic justice catching up with him. Claims of a murder plot and an overdose in solitary confinement, to life-threatening health issues, and denied medical care. The once-powerful music icon is now facing the kind of suffering he’s long been accused of inflicting on others.
