They say every day brings new choices. But I say, every day brings a new Karen. Indeed, while we’ve had plenty of overly pushy and entitled women in all shapes and sizes, from high-strung Floridians to construction truck hijackers to even a “Peter Griffin”-looking Karen in Pennsylvania, a new day always means a new Karen. And, yes, today brings us a racist California Karen who decided to have an emotional meltdown outside of an all-you-can-eat sushi and bbq restaurant in downtown Los Angeles in front of droves of hungry patrons.
Sporting a purple knitted beret, blue jeans, a light lavender hoodie, and a pink and blue backpack, the boomer Karen can be seen waving a purple scarf in the face of a restaurant employee stood in front of the entrance to the establishment. “Men who are sexist, racist and hateful! F**k off!” the Karen yells at the restaurant worker. One of the onlookers nearby can be heard uttering, “No need to hit. No need to hit.“
For context, the woman apparently asked to use the restaurant’s restroom and was refused entry as she was not a customer, which is what likely instigated the Karen’s emotional outburst. Continuing on, the woman declares, “You moron. Go to f***ing hell! Ladies, do not let men push you around. You tell him, he’s a f***ing racist sexist.”
Next, the Karen holds up her phone to her mouth in a faux phone call to the police, uttering the words, “3914, 3914, police department? Officer? Morons! I hate him!” before loudly exclaiming, “I peed in my pants everybody.” Suddenly, however, the woman’s tirade begins to become more racially motivated with hateful language. “Go back to Korea! Go back to Korea! I don’t care. I am born in the United States. You’re not. You’re a moron.” which garners her boos from the crowd who are waiting outside the sushi restaurant.
The Karen then pushes over a tub of cutlery in an act of mischief, which draws more boos from the public, before cutting to a clip later on during the incident where the police have finally arrived on the scene. Initially, the footage shows the Karen lying on the ground with the two officers stood over her, before another snippet of footage reveals her being dragged away by the same officers to a round of applause from onlookers. In the final moments of the clip, a banshee-like scream can be heard from the Karen, though by the looks of the faces of the witnesses around her, it seems to be more humorous than genuine distress.
Like bees to honey, netizens couldn’t wait to weigh in with their thoughts and reactions to the clip, which is garnering much attention online right now. One Redditor wrote, “My favorite part, is the cop is of Asian decent, as well. [sic]” with another penning, “That detail was just 🤌”. Meanwhile, over on TikTok, a commenter couldn’t resist emphasising the irony at the end of the footage and chimed in with, “being arrested by Asians after this is *chefs kiss *“
