A disagreement over a payment can quickly become uncomfortable when a customer refuses to accept a business’s limitations. At MoneyKey Ramen in Simi Valley, California, one customer’s frustration over a $100 bill escalated into a heated political rant.
She began yelling about voting Republican, questioning other people’s identities, and threatening to involve Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The confrontation was captured in a video shared on TikTok by @muhchanic4u. According to the accompanying caption, staff could not provide change for her $100 bill, prompting her to become rude toward the service workers. The caption adds that a person named David called her out for being dramatic, which further escalated the situation.
The woman repeatedly shouts, “Vote red, *expletive*. Vote *expletive* red,” while accusing people around her of calling her a slur. She insists that she is being mistreated and repeatedly asks those around her, “Do you know what a woman is?”
At one point, another person reminds her that there are little kids in the restaurant and tells her that she is escalating the situation. The woman responds by insisting that someone called her a derogatory name and demands an explanation for why he would say it.
The argument then turns toward immigration politics. The woman claims she has been to the establishment before when staff wanted to bring in ICE and accuses the entire restaurant of being against the agency.
Meanwhile, those around her insist that she is being disrespectful and tell her to leave. One person even offers to give her some change, while another suggests that staff should take her picture so they will recognize her if she returns.
The woman calls the people around her names, complains about how they have treated her, and again shouts, “Vote red!” Near the end of the recording, she uses an anti-gay slur while insulting two people.
According to the caption, police were called, but the woman had already left by the time they arrived.
Internet Reacts to the California Ramen Restaurant Confrontation
The clip prompted criticism from viewers. One commenter wrote, “Trump is their whole identity.” Another observed, “The way you can see her embarrassment set in but she was in too deep so she kept going.”
Others questioned how long the restaurant allowed the confrontation to continue. “It’s CRAZY that the restaurant let her go on as long as they did!!!” one viewer commented. Another wrote, “The fact this happens is crazy. I’m surprised she didn’t start fake crying the way she was trying to play the victim.”
Some viewers focused on her refusal to let the argument end. One commenter said, “She obviously can’t leave things alone. She just keep going and going and going.”
Another viewer offered a broader perspective on the situation, writing, “Less to do about politics, more to do with me at illness and not knowing how to act in public, and or being told no. Really sad, regardless to sides and political beliefs, and everything under that umbrella, this world feels very dark and disturbed.”
The recording does not establish why she believed the restaurant was against ICE, and the caption does not provide further details about the police response.
