A Black Jonas Brothers fan attended one of their shows in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, as she was enjoying the live music, she was allegedly harassed by two White attendees, and she accused them of calling security on her a whopping 13 times. She, however, got the last laugh, as Joe Jonas reportedly invited her to another concert, and her experience was sublime.
The whole story was summarized by TikToker Common Revolt. The woman’s name is Latoia (itslatoia), and she reportedly attended a Jonas Brothers concert on November 5, held at the Spectrum Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a now-deleted TikTok video, Latoia recounted how she was harassed by two White women. As per the Atlanta Black Star, these unnamed ladies are accused of coming up to Latoia and telling her she “didn’t belong here.”
“I had security called on me 13 times,” Latoia added. “Next thing you know, security is coming up telling me I have to move.” Allegedly, one security guard even told her, “You’re the only Black girl on the floor, of course, you’re going to stick out like a sore thumb.”
Several users online, who were also in attendance, confirmed in subsequent TikToks, such as Common Revolt’s, that the events did happen as Latoia said. She ended her TikTok by saying she will never attend a Jonas Brothers concert ever again.
Many gathered in support of Latoia, with some even recalling instances in which they had been treated similarly.
“So sad she had to deal with that,” one user said. Another one wrote, “No one should ever be treated like that. I am so glad she spoke up about her experience.” A third one added, “It’s crazy these type of people actually exist in the world.”
Front-Row Tickets, Serenaded By Joe Jonas
However, one comment stood out among all the others. It was Joe Jonas himself, who, moved by Latoia’s tears, had something to say.
“Completely unacceptable,” Joe wrote in response to Latoia’s video. “I’m sorry you had this experience. I don’t condone this type of behavior from anyone. If you ever change your mind, just know arms wide open over here.”
Latoia thanked Joe Jonas for speaking out and being a class act, and she said she would love to attend another show.
That show came days later. She was reportedly given front-row tickets and, during the group’s hit song Backwards, Joe Jonas walked up to her and serenaded her. He even hugged the North Carolina woman as the song ended.
“Literally started crying when I saw it was you!! So happy this happened for you. You deserve it!!!” one person commented. “I’m sooooo happy you got the show and experience you deserve and should’ve had from the beginning,” a second one added. A third one wrote, “Awww this made me tear up because I love the Jonas Brothers so much. I’m so happy for you.“
It is safe to say that Latoia, indeed, had the last laugh.
