In an age where everything can be caught on phone and camera, you’d think people would be hesitant to show their racism. It makes you do crazy things, even puts you and your partner’s job at risk. However, one “Karen” proved racism is alive and well. A recent video showing a New York police chief’s girlfriend and her true colors now calls his job into question and proves some Karens are uncontrollable.
The viral video shows a White woman, Susan Rice, getting into an argument with two Black teens, ages 16 and 18. While the teenagers try to shoo her away, Susan retorts, “You don’t even pay for this.” She goes on to say her home is “an estate” and she was previously in law enforcement. She also questions the family if they are “Section 8.” As they interrupt her from their porch and tell her to “go in the house.” Seconds later, she angrily makes her way onto the porch and assaults both teenagers. The arguing wasn’t a good look, but mix the attack with the fact Susan is the girlfriend of an upstate New York police chief, and you have a recipe for disaster.
After throwing a few punches, the boys defend themselves. Susan is hit and lands on the porch; meanwhile, the boys continue to say “Get off my porch.” Susan’s husband then grabs ahold of her hands to help her to her feet but she refuses to budge. She struggles in his arms as he keeps telling her to “get up.”
As a result of the incident, it was reported Susan’s husband (Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski) was placed on administrative leave due to the altercation. There is currently an investigation to determine if any misconduct or police department policies were violated. At the time of the incident, Zikuski was off-duty but still present.
Susan, however, is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, harassment, and trespassing in the second degree. Interestingly enough, Zikuski himself was previously placed on administrative leave for sexual harassment allegations but the complaint was dropped. It’s safe to say there’s a lot of drama surrounding this police chief’s household. Maybe they should enjoy their time off instead of harassing Black teenagers.
Commenters found the thrilling endeavor satisfying because Susan got what she asked for. One person pointed out, “And that’s what happens when someone who has never been punched in the mouth gets introduced to how the real world works.”
Another person shared that both Susan and her boyfriend were at fault in this situation. They stated, “For all of you asking and defending the negligent officer, as the daughter, niece, and sister of law enforcement, here’s what he did wrong. 1. He let the argument happen. 2. Once it happened, he did not intervene. 3. He did not deescalate. 4. He watched as she assaulted minors and did not intervene until she was hit, so internal affairs is going to assume abuse of power.” Another racist Karen strikes again!
