Ohio is no stranger to drama and activity, especially since Donald Trump took office and tensions have risen considerably. From protests to Tesla demonstrations and political anarchy, there’s no shortage of reasons police have been on edge. In a stunning video captured in Mansfield, caught by a man’s Ring camera, the homeowner can be seen casually lounging on his front porch. What happens next by local law enforcement is downright criminal and heinous, regardless of how on ‘edge’ they might be.
In the video, captured during the evening or early morning hours, a man casually hangs out on his porch. A light is seen, and police then approach the man, asking him to step down from the porch. The man then responds, “For what, what are y’all bothering me for?” A cop then approaches him and escalates the situation by forcefully grabbing the man and wrestling with him before slamming him into the concrete floor.
Mind you, all of this is without asking for any ID or any questions in general about who he might be or if this is his home or anything. In the Reddit post that shared the video, uploaded by user Tylerrr93, in the r/PublicFreakout channel, many users had a lot to say about the wild footage of the man being assaulted in his own home.
“How tf can you loiter at your own house. I hope he sues for civil damages (since we know the cops will never be held responsible by their own dept)”
“Tax funded domestic terrorists”
“The pause of them realizing they just made a huge mistake. These freaking pigs man.”
“Trespassing and assaulting a man they don’t know because he didn’t do a thing they had no right demanding he do. You don’t have to open the door if they don’t have a warrant, just the same you don’t have to step off the porch. Who is he? They dont know. What’d he do? They don’t know. Proper escalation of force? Like hell. Im just glad they didn’t blow him away immediately like other cops do.
“Enjoy the lawsuit and $$$ buddy. Police officers should be fired after a short investigation, and their pensions drained to fund this dude’s lawsuit payout. They (the police officers) should also be charged with trespassing and assault.”
“As someone who group up in the area I’m not at all shocked by this. Mansfield PD have a long history of corruption. They love to flex their sense of power on their neighbors and members of community.”
As you can see, there is no love for the police presence in Mansfield, and honestly, why should there be? If this is what they pass off as protect and serve, then perhaps the residents and innocent man lucky enough to have caught this on video can do without them racially profiling and attacking them.
