These days, the number of clips on the Internet capturing racist encounters has multiplied drastically. But a few of those are so gruesome, they leave one completely speechless. In Tennessee, an influencer went live, hurling hurtful and racist remarks at a mom and her mixed-race baby girl.
The clip posted on Reddit showed that the influencer was surrounded by a few other like-minded men as they degraded the woman and her daughter. Ironically, a couple of police officers were also standing there watching the exchange. “You made a mistake. You created a monkey,” the influencer said, pointing at the little girl who screamed at him. “You threw away 50,000 years of genetics to create that,” he spat. “You dated a monkey, that’s bestiality,” the influencer accused.
The mom did not stay silent either, “Well, you haven’t done nothing for your country,” she screamed at him. “[Expletive] have taken white America down to stupid ghetto talk like the way you’re speaking now,” he said to the mom, “… You dumb [expletive] fake N-word. This isn’t Halloween, stop acting like a N-word.” The man kept throwing hurtful words at the mom. With the kid standing there, they exchanged more hurtful words and insulted each other. While the men finally walked away, one of the influencer’s entourage asked, “Where’s the father of that nasty thing?” referring to the little girl. Throughout the clip, one side of the screen showed the multiple engagements that the video was getting.
Critics of the racists wasted no time blowing up the comments.“It’s mad that protection of free speech includes this,” one wrote. Another said, “That poor baby is gonna remember this [expletive] for the rest of her life.” A few were more concerned with the police officer. “You know who I’m mad at here? That police officer. Literally just stand there and let grown [expletive] men say grotesque stuff to a child,” one stated, while another wrote, “I’m surprised (but not really) that the police officer didn’t remove him from the situation. Screaming the goddamn N-word at a mother and her child most certainly counts as incitement or fighting words.”
In response to that, a user pointed out, “The job of police is to enforce hierarchies of social injustice, not solve them. The police officer is unfortunately doing their job exactly as they’re supposed to. If it were a white child? The footage would be entirely different.” One Redditor wrote of the MAGA, “He likely doesn’t view the child as a human, much less of a child because the child isn’t the same color he is.”
Another felt people like that should just be ignored. “I wish more people would quit taking the bait with [expletive] like this. Her reaction, even justified, was exactly what he wanted,” they explained. “Welp, this is full-blown 80s racism. This is what conservatives vote for,” one Redditor lamented. “Owning the lines by hurling slurs at a child. Wow. So brave. So epic…” a user wrote sarcastically. “
Racism is never tolerable, but racism towards a minor is even more abhorrent.
