Despite the fact that it was released in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most popular competitive games in the eSports market today. While the brunt of that can be credited to Ubisoft’s continued support for the title, the personalities that are actively streaming and making videos in the community are just as important.
One of those influencers is a user Gregor (Twitch name Young_Gregor). Known for his How to Videos and “Sah, du’?” intros, Gregor has amassed a solid fan base over the past year thanks to his Rainbow Six Siege focused content. Recently, he even joined the Rainbow Six Siege eSports team Disrupt Gaming.
In a recent announcement on his channel, Gregor revealed that he would be undertaking a new endeavor, titled “Project Prism.”
This YouTube channel was never going to be anything more than a college thesis project. For the better, it’s become something greater. Still, I’d like to do more with it.
I enjoy making the content that I make, and I understand that you all come here expecting a certain kind of flavor of Siege content. Siege is a great game, one of the best FPS games ever made. But what the game is, mechanically speaking, and what the game represents, to me, are two different things.
The concept of Siege, rather, Team Rainbow, is very real. While in name, it exists canonically, as a part of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series of books and video games, it exists in reality as global coalitions, created with the intention of rooting out evil wherever it may be.
A while ago, I made a video detailing a conceptual plan for the introduction of an Israeli CTU to Siege. The video itself is certainly not my highest performing, but it features a significant amount of comments, most of them positive, and a handful of them vicious.
I was surprised to find that despite years of Rainbow Six games being made since the 90s, and the presence of Israeli operatives depicted in those games, Siege had elevated the Rainbow Six license. It was no longer a niche game played among the tactical/strategy gaming community. Many, primarily young people, are being exposed to the concept of Team Rainbow, but aren’t provided with a particularly strong understanding of what it means.
Realizing this, I decided to outline a plan for my presentation of this channel as a communications project, not just as a means to teach people how to play a game, but as an educational tool that would help illuminate some concepts they may never have considered.
In particular, Westerners do not have a particularly strong understanding of what the military community handles in many parts of the world. Other nations besides those in North America and Europe stand at crucial points in the fight against worldwide crime and terrorism, such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
I look forward to sharing it with you all. At the moment, here are the countries I plan on covering. The list is not final.

In the announcement, Gregor did preface that he would not stop uploading operator how-tos or stop streaming.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the first video, which debuts September 7th.
