HBO Max and Warner Bros. have teased the return of Ralphie in the new teaser for A Christmas Story Christmas, the sequel to the 1983 holiday classic. The sequel, announced in January of this year, will star Peter Billingsley reprising the role of Ralphie, who is now an adult taking his family to his childhood home for the holidays. In the teaser, we see a car, presumably Ralphie’s, driving to the house. Inside the house are items from the original film, including that famous lamp and a black-and-white picture of Ralphie with his friends. We then see Billingsley putting on his famous round glasses and flashing a smile at the camera. Famous lines from the original film are played throughout the trailer, including Ralphie’s memorable “Oh, fudge!”

A Christmas Story is one of the most beloved Christmas films of all time, and it’s centered around a young Ralphie’s desire for a Red Ryder BB Gun. It contains many memorable moments (e.g., the flagpole scene) and quotable lines such as, “You’ll shoot your eye out.” According to Deadline, the new movie will be set in the 1970s, featuring Ralphie returning to his childhood home to give his children a magical Christmas like the one he had. He will also reconnect with his childhood friends and deal with the passing of his father.
According to SlashFilm, Billingsley’s Ralphie will not be the only one reprising his 1983 role in A Christmas Story Christmas. Scott Schwartz and R.D. Robb will reprise their roles as Ralphie’s childhood friends, Flick and Schwartz. Ian Petrella will also return as Ralphie’s little brother Randy. Zack Ward will also reprise his role as school bully Scut Farkus. Julie Haggerty is also reportedly portraying Ralphie’s mother, a role originally portrayed by Melinda Dillon, who retired from acting in 2007. Erinn Hayes, River Drosche, and Julianna Layne will play Ralphie’s wife and kids.
