A man in Florida is urging people not to visit a Dave’s Hot Chicken location in Pembroke Pines after he filmed a rat running freely around the restaurant. According to the customer, after he alerted staff about what he had seen, expecting someone to step in and take control of the situation, little was done to address it. He alleged that the employees “didn’t even care” and instead left the front door open, seemingly in hopes that the rodent would run out on its own.
Even as the rat darted across the floor near the dining area, one employee standing behind the counter can be seen in the video pulling out their phone and casually filming it, rather than attempting to remove it or clear the area.
The man said he then brought the issue to the attention of a manager, hoping for a more serious response. However, instead of treating the rodent problem as an urgent health concern, he claimed the manager dismissed it, telling him it was “not a big deal.” He further alleged that she suggested the rat may have come from nearby businesses, including Kpot or the Regal movie theater.
The customer found that explanation to be dubious at best, noting that both establishments were located at the opposite end of the plaza. As of now, there have been no updates from him on whether the rat was captured or left on its own, and it remains unclear whether this was the first time such an incident had occurred at the restaurant.
Here’s How Netizens Are Reacting to the Restaurant’s Rodent Problem
It appears that many people who watched the video are regulars at the restaurant and reacted with shock in the comments section. One person wrote, “This location hasn’t even been open that long to have these type of issues that’s crazyyy.” Another said, “This just irritated me sooo bad!!” A third added, “The way I would’ve screamed 😭😭😭😭”
Others admitted the video completely changed their desire to try the restaurant, with one commenting, “And to think I literally wanted to try this place.” One viewer even speculated, “That rat looks disoriented and out of place. Either someone planted it there to harm the business, or it wandered in through the door from outside. 🤔🤔🤔”
