An eagle-eyed Red Dead Online player has discovered a glitch that suggests Rockstar may be bringing a Red Dead Online zombie update soon, possibly in the form of Undead Nightmare 2. The player, Reddit user Jasonpf1123, posted a GIF of the glitch on the game’s subreddit. The GIF shows an undead NPC that looks like a zombie walking around in the forest. The detail and movement of the NPC are incredibly zombie-like. Jasonpf1123 reported that they could kill the undead character but could not loot it. Due to the upcoming Halloween holiday, players have been speculating that this glitch could be related to a potential Undead Nightmare 2 Halloween update. Although it could be a random glitch, the timing and detail of the character in the GIF are pretty convincing. The fact that the glitch occurred on the PlayStation version of the game also rules out modding.

Red Dead Online zombie glitch

Rockstar has already detailed some of the plans for Halloween in Red Dead Online. The developer will be releasing a Halloween Outlaw Pass soon, but specifics of the pass have not been revealed so far. Rockstar should be announcing details of the pass a few days before the start date.

Undead Nightmare was an incredibly popular add-on to the original Red Dead Redemption game. The expansion turned the entire world of Red Dead Redemption into a zombie-infested land. As such, Red Dead Online zombie fans have been hoping to see a revival of Undead Nightmare for the latest game. A Red Dead Online update would make the most sense for Undead Nightmare 2 due to the way Rockstar has focused on the online services for Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption in recent years.

The Call to Arms update for Red Dead Online also sparked speculation that Undead Nightmare could be returning to Red Dead Redemption 2. Call to Arms is a horde-like update to Red Dead Online that allows players to defend a town from waves of enemies. At the time of the Call to Arms release, players speculated that a zombie version of the mode could be in the pipeline. Undead Overrun is a zombie horde mode that was included in the original Undead Nightmare zombie update for Red Dead Redemption. Comparisons between Call to Arms and Undead Overrun were made as soon as the new mode was released. This latest glitch has added fuel to the fire that Undead Nightmare will be making a return to Red Dead Online. Still, nothing has been confirmed, so this is pure speculation.
