Red Dead Online has been somewhat of an organic process – it’s still finding its footing in the online gaming landscape (whereas Grand Theft Auto Online didn’t have as much trouble).
But with the online mode still being in beta-phase, it’s understandable that it needs some more time in the oven. In just a little over a week, Rockstar is going to be rolling out a hefty update for Red Dead Online that includes some new features.
Here’s what we’ll be getting:
- Player Visibility: Visibility of player blips will be reduced over longer distances in an effort to quell destructive player behavior – overly aggressive players will be highlighted on the game’s map. Red Dead Online’s posse mechanics will also be improved.
- Bounty Hunters & Law Balancing: Criminal behavior will now have consequences in the form of bounties, and the law will be sent after criminals who are causing too much trouble.
- Daily Challenges: Unique challenges will be added to your daily objectives – an opportunity for a nice XP boost (and maybe even some gold nuggets).
- General Bug Fixes: These include some weapon rebalancing, voice chat issues, and more.
Hopefully, the continued growth and performance of Red Dead Online will help it gain some more long-lasting traction from players. As a comparison, Grand Theft Auto Online still has a huge player-base – and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. If not, you could always just play Red Dead Redemption 2‘s stellar story again.
Red Dead Online‘s new update drops on Feb. 26, with more information to follow on that day.
