Marketing can make or break any product, especially movies, so it’s under the assumption that each individual piece of it would be vetted thoroughly before being released. In movies, the star of that respective movie would be one of the individuals apart of that process, but according to the star of the upcoming Animated reboot of Snow White titled Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs, she was shocked to see one of their posters after fans complained on Twitter.

Photos surfaced recently of a poster for the newest film in which the tag line reads “What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?” The image then shows a left to right comparison of a skinny snow white standing next to a heavier set version.

Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs

The implication did not sit well with fans, as the weight was the only difference, nor did it with the film’s star Chloe Grace Moretz. The actress learned of the poster after being tweeted at by American plus-size model wondering how it got approved by an entire marketing team.

In response, the actress tweeted that she has “fully reviewed the [marketing] for Red Shoes, I am just as appalled and angry as everyone else, this wasn’t approved by me or my team.

Pls know I have let the producers of the film know. I lent my voice to a beautiful script that I hope you will all see in its entirety https://t.co/IOIXYZTc3g

After apologizing Moretz designates that the actual story tells a powerful story that young women would relate to and that it resonated with her personally. Considering that the film is aimed at young children, especially girls who love Disney Princess, seeing the poster in public is pretty shocking.

While the original teaser trailer for Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs did show off the changes to the series, with Snow White being lewd and unladylike throughout, it never emphasized that she was ugly after changing, just that she had indeed changed and her weight was a part of it.

We will see how the negative press affects the upcoming reboot, but it’s not a good sign when even your star is upset with you. For more information on  Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs be sure to check back to the site for news, as well as updates on all of your other Nerdy News and Needs!
