It is nothing but shouts of cheers and sighs of relief in Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s household. After a month of trial about his role in the alleged 2021 shooting of his pal, A$AP Relli, the rapper will be walking away as a free man.
On Tuesday, a Los Angeles jury acquitted A$AP Rocky of two charges of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, finding him not guilty. The Sundress rapper was accused of opening fire at his former friend during an argument on a Hollywood street in November 2021. However, the fashion mogul denied the claims, arguing that the weapon in question was a prop gun.
After the first not-guilty verdict was read, cheers erupted in the courtroom. Rocky sighed with relief before immediately jumping over the stand to hug partner Rihanna, seated with his mother and sister. Per People, an emotional Rocky thanked the jury for the verdict, saying:
“Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision!”
In a press conference outside the court, the 36-year-old gave a speech about the case. “God first. You gotta thank god first. I really want to thank the jury for making the right decision,” he reiterated. “I’m just so thankful. This is crazy right now. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years. Nonetheless, I’m thankful and blessed to be here right now.”
Rihanna Celebrates Partner A$AP Rocky’s Win With Emotional Post
Rihanna was by her man’s side through his speech, affectionately holding him. Although she didn’t speak to the cameras, she took to IG to share a message. “The glory belongs to God and God alone! Thankful, humbled by His mercy,” she wrote alongside a praying hands emoji.
This is the first time the Fenty Beauty founder has publicly discussed the case. Although she remained quiet through it all, Rihanna was the epitome of a supportive partner, appearing in court almost daily. After bringing along their two sons, two-year-old RZA and one-year-old Riot, for the final arguments last week, the toddlers were present again on Tuesday for the final verdict. Fans of the couple took to X to celebrate the favorable ruling.

“Rihanna looks so relieved; I’m so happy for them,” one fan gushed.
“Congrats to A$AP Rocky! He took a gamble not accepting that plea deal. Now Rihanna & Rocky can have another baby lol,” a second user added.
“You could see how fast he was breathing, such a relief. So happy for him and his family,” a third comment read.
The not guilty verdict is undoubtedly a significant victory for A$AP Rocky and Rihanna. The rapper would have gotten up to 24 years in prison if found guilty.
