‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake Officially Announced

R&D Division 1 and Capcom have announced the official remake of Resident Evil 2 on their YouTube channel. Yes, that’s a cue to get excited now. 

[gap height=”15″]Producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi, or “H”, stated “You’ve been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven’t been able to make it happen…until now.” Whether or not Capcom is trying to stay ahead of the curve in the age of nostalgia fueled re-texturing of all things “classic”, Resident Evil 2 is a really exciting prospect. The words emboldened underneath Resident Evil 2 — Remake — state an obvious change, one that could go beyond an HD texturing. Yet, as H has said “It will be some time before we can bring you an update on this project,”.

While we wait and see what this “remake” has to offer, we can rest assured that team is taking this endeavor seriously and graciously,  “It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved. The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans’ passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want”.

We couldn’t walk away without mentioning the laboriously worked on Resident Evil Reborn, could we? With no affiliation to Capcom or R&D Division 1, Reborn is adding Unreal 4 lighting and textures to make the original RE2 *pop*. Kind of like a lumbering zombie’s head. This is a fan game, lovingly re crafted to add the over-the-shoulder perspective that started in Resident Evil 4. 

[gap height=”15″]Could Capcom find some influence in the workings and labor of Reborn? Will Capcom release RE2: Remake on another Nintendo console? Only time, like the slow shuffle of a zombie policeman, can aid us in our journey for answers.
