Resident Evil 7’sย free DLC,ย Not a Hero, was originally slated for a springtime release. ย After all, what better time would there be to revisit one of the creepiest titles released in the last few years than when flowers are in bloom and butterflies are in the air? ย Capcom has now announced thatย Not a Hero will not meet that initial release window via a video featuring producer Masachika Kawata and director Koshi Nakanishi., citing, “the incredible reception to the release of Resident Evil 7“.
The two continuedย to say that, “this DLC was not good enough to meet these high expectations” and that their, “aim is for this content to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time to achieve that goal.”

Jun Takeuchi, Executive Producer ofย Resident Evil 7 further elaborates in the video the rationaleย behind the decision to giveย Not a Heroย more time in the oven to bake. He concludes that “this free DLC is not yet ready to meet your expectations.”. ย Takeuchi also reveals at the same time that the team is also working on another piece of DLC although he does not indicate whether it willย be free likeย Not a Hero.
Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero is an epilog to the events of the main title. ย The DLC is expected to feature perennialย Resident Evil protagonist Chris Redfield. There has been much speculation as to how Redfield’s story arc from previous titles such as the originalย Resident Evil, RE 5, RE 6ย and RE Revelations will play into the events of Not a Heroย and withย this announcement fans of the seriesย will have to wait a little longer to find out. The Nerd Stash gaveย Resident Evil 7: Biohazardย four out of five stars lauding that, “Capcom has found a way to keep an ageing franchise feel relevant again. It does this by embracing the foundations of the titular franchise and adopting new ideas, much like the original did over twenty years ago.”
