The only way to kill the enemy is to use a long-range weapon, and there is only one suitable option for this, namely the First Age Crossbow. To craft it, you need to find 3 recipe fragments, each of which you can get by repairing statues while exploring the Lower Deeps.
When you do this, you can finally craft the First Age Crossbow. To accomplish this, you need the following resources:

- Silver Ingot x2
- Natural Fibers x3
- Ubasam Wood x8
All materials are straightforward to find, except for Ruby. This item can be more difficult to obtain, but if you explore The Darkest Deeps or open Orkish Chests, you can find it.
