Rian Johnson, Director of Star Wars: Episode VIII, is letting the world know that the movie is in “the home stretch.” The movie has been filming the last bit of production at Pinewood Studios in London for some time now. As with any Star Wars news, a simple photo of a cloak, some rock, and set equipment just seems so much more exciting that it would be otherwise!
Johnson took to Tumblr to literally use those words with this post below:
The photo isn’t showing much (intentional, for sure), but it looks like we could be looking at a sneak peek of where Rey and Luke meet at the conclusion of The Force Awakens. Lots of chatter, online speculation, rumors, and even legitimate news have pointed to the islands we find Luke on are the Jedi Temples or Academy. If any of that is true, the Tumblr post may be showing us a glimpse of a storyline I personally find really exciting.
Episode VIII is set for release in December 2017, so there is a whole whack of time to add speculation and wild predictions, as well as reshoots, despite the “home stretch” Johnson refers to. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has hit some (potential) snags in its production, as Disney ordered a number of reshoots for it last week. While that’s a commonplace, it is a little late in production to do so.
Episode VIII, on the other hand, has well over a year to have Mark Hamill throw his cloak back on, stare into space/Rey’s eyes and give us his Jedi wisdom (maybe?) one last time.
Wait- you’re name is RIAN? Why did you let me keep calling you ROGER? #MarksMonickerMixUp #AndYouAre? #Wait4Eight https://t.co/7ldLi4PTbS
