I don’t need to work at a fast-food restaurant to know that customers can be incredibly difficult to deal with. Judging by the various viral videos I’ve seen over the years of people berating employees and throwing food, has told me enough. In Florida, a McDonald’s met one such customer who refused to wait in the designated waiting area for his cook-to-order food while the employees tended to other guests in the drive-thru. Let me tell you that if I were behind this man in line, I would have lain down on the horn until he finally decided to move because that’s ridiculous.
The video of the strange Florida manchild was posted to TikTok by Joshua Infante, a 17-year-old McDonald’s employee who typically posts about his work life at the restaurant. He also typically talks about how customers behave, though this time, you can see it for real. In the video, a man can be seen in his car at the drive-thru window, complaining to Joshua, who was recording.
The man had allegedly been waiting since he originally ordered his food earlier in the line for his meal of two double cheeseburgers and a small fry. At restaurants like McDonald’s, food is typically made to order to ensure that the customer gets the freshest and hottest experience. However, it appears that this man didn’t know that.
Joshua can be heard explaining this to the man, who simply doesn’t want to hear that. He wants to wait at the window until he gets his food. After a few seconds of deliberations and back-and-forth with the man, Joshua finally says, “This is so ridiculous—it’s like I’m arguing with a wall,” to which the man decides to have the money he paid refunded to him.
Florida Man Reportedly Won’t Wait for Food, Holding Up McDonald’s Line
The replies were filled with people siding with Joshua in his stance, with one person saying, “Normalize canceling people’s orders.” Another person focused more on what Joshua wanted the man to do in order to easily get his meal, “I never understood why it’s so inconvenient to pull up.”
Personally, if you’re hoping to order food in a cook-to-order manner, then you can’t fault the employees for doing what was asked. It’s clear that the restaurant just wanted to do its due diligence to ensure a happy customer, and didn’t even get that. Hopefully, the man in the car was able to see the error in his reaction as he drove away without any food.
