Starting in early access almost 3 years ago, Risk of Rain 2 has come a long way. With that repetitious roguelike gameplay that has captured the indie space, Hopoo Games just recently launched the title last August. With big changes and new additions bolstering the title with larger maps and better items; Risk of Rain 2 has had significant content additions. Most recently adding a full ending and story to wrap it all nicely, the team isn’t quite done fleshing out their world. Announced a few months ago with a roadmap was news of more content. As March is now winding down, the next big update to Risk of Rain 2 is launching March 25.

The Anniversary Update will be arriving on March 25 for PC players!

To help celebrate, a fresh Development Thoughts has also been shared as we look back at the past 2 years and look toward the future!

While the exact specifics of what is being added has been rumored, the blog post on Steam covers quite a lot of new content. Amongst the news was also some announcements of milestones Risk of Rain 2 has hit since its launch. The biggest being over 4 million copies sold over Steam with overwhelmingly positive reviews from 137,000 reviews. The first new addition being added is a returning character from Risk of Rain, the Bandit. As the characters files have been in the game’s code for quite some time now, fans have already had a look at what’s to come with their own modded spin.

Thankfully, Hopoo Games are taking notice and allowing for there to be two instances of Bandit. One where the player can use custom mods to change abilities and the new official Bandit. Preserving mod capabilities and allowing for new and diverse gameplay styles to evolve from it is such a welcome acceptance of the vibrant modding community. With that said, more additions in this update will include other familiar content from the first Risk title.

So will you dive into Risk of Rain 2’s newest update when it launches? Let us know in the comments down below!
