There are a total of sixteen characters, with one of them being a secret, that you can obtain in Risk of Rain Returns. Each of these characters has their own pros and cons that make them the best to certain players. However, these characters still fall into different tiers that determine which ones are the best, regardless of skills. After many hours of playing, we wrote out a Risk of Rain Returns Survivor tier list, outlining which Survivors are the best characters and why.

Best Survivors In Risk of Rain Returns
As explained above, the sixteen survivors each have their own pros and cons. We outlined the Sniper and Loader as the best survivors you can use because the Sniper is even described as the ultimate boss killer. The Loader deals a ton of damage right out the gate and can easily use its Debris Shield to attack enemies while on the run.
While some might disagree, we listed the Engineer as the worst character. This was because since they rely on placing mines and turrets in the correct places, we found it difficult to do this while also racing against time. As a result, we didn’t use the Engineer in all the right ways, which just meant that we had no interest in doing so. We also found that the Engineer was the only one of all the Survivors we haven’t used because of this.
