Robert De Niro gave Donald Trump a piece of his mind on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, calling the former president a “malignant narcissist” and “socio-psychopath.”
This was in retaliation to Trump’s comments from December, whereby he mocked De Niro, “whose acting talents have greatly diminished,” for using “a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language, so disrespectful to our Country.”
Trump Throws the First Punch
Trump added: “He has become unwatchable” and “should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others. He has become a total loser, as the World watches, waits, and laughs!”
But he wasn’t done yet. Trump continued by poking fun at De Niro’s famously short stature. “Robert De Niro is a ‘mental midget’ whose mind is shot, and whose life is a total train wreck. Very much like Crooked Joe Biden, he can’t put two sentences together. The good news is that this crude and very stupid ‘animal’ has lost all credibility!”
De Niro Bites Back
De Niro was appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his new movie Ezra, directed by Tony Goldwyn, which tells the story about a father and his brilliant, autistic child Ezra as they take a cross-country road trip together.
On the show, Kimmel decided to mention Trump’s past discretions, which prompted De Niro to unload a lot of harbored hatred he’d been saving for just such an occasion. “You and I have something in common,” Kimmel said, “We have both been immortalized on social media by our former President Donald Trump.”
De Niro didn’t hold back from unleashing his unfiltered opinion about Trump as payback for the cruel remarks he had made about De Niro in the first place.
“He’s so fucking stupid,” De Niro said. “Look at the lame things that he said. He’s so stupid, he can’t even say anything clever.”
“He’s a moron, but he’s a scary one,” he said. “It’s all an act in certain way,” he continued. “It’s all out of insecurity. He’s deeply, deeply insecure. He is a malignant narcissist. He’s a socio-psychopath.”
De Niro mentioned that people’s support of Trump “baffles” him, saying, “I can’t understand it. And it’s a thing that we’ve seen over decades and decades and he’s a, what’s it, Tammy Faye and the other one.” This was De Niro’s dig at Trump for his likeness to televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.
“What do they tell their kids? What do they tell their grandkids later when it’s written in history books, what their role is and what they did, and [how] they allowed him to do this?” he asked. “He’s an outright criminal and they’re still buying it.”
De Niro ended his rant by encouraging Americans to vote, but not for Trump.
