Conflicting reports have come in surrounding Matt Reeves’ The Batman film. Variety is reporting that Twilight star Robert Pattinson has just about locked up the role as the Dark Knight. The site stated that although the deal hasn’t been finalized yet, it is expected to be completed shortly.
Deadline, however, has reported that Reeves and WB haven’t decided on their new Batman yet. According to Deadline, Robert Pattinson is on the shortlist for the role but so is X-Men: First Class star, Nicholas Hoult.
It seems that these 2 guys are the frontrunners for The Batman. Despite who dons the cowl for Reeves’ film, we can expect to see a Caped Crusader who falls more in line with the “World’s Greatest Detective” moniker. Reeves spoke to The Hollywood Reporter back in January and revealed a few things regarding the tone of his Batman movie:
“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
We’ll keep you updated on the official casting for the upcoming Matt Reeves-led Batman film as soon as we get more information.
