The former host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Robin Leach passed away today at the age of 76.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Leach was hospitalized in November of last year due to a stroke he suffered in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. On Monday, Leach suffered another stroke. The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s John Katsilometes first reported this sad news, stating:

Sad to report the death of famed celeb reporter, friend and colleague #RobinLeach @ 1:50 a.m. in #LasVegas. He would have been 77 Wednesday. He suffered a second stroke Monday. He in hospice care. He'd been hospitalized since Nov. 21, after suffering a stroke in Cabo San Lucas.

Leach’s family also made a statement to the Review-Journal, saying:

“Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had. Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night at 1:50 a.m. Everyone’s support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful. Memorial arrangements to follow,”

Robin Leach was best known for his work on the TV series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, which focused on the extravagant lifestyles of celebrities. The show has been revered as a pioneer for reality television.

While talking with Askmen.com in 2007, Leach described how they approached the series:

“The more eye-popping and outrageous, the better. We wanted to make your mouth drop. That was the main effect. One picture was worth a thousand words, so if you had more pictures, the less you would have to say.”

In 2016, the beloved TV personality joined the Las Vegas Review-Journal as an entertainment columnist. During that time, Leach told The Hollywood Reporter that he looked at this new gig as a challenge and “another [opportunity] to make something out of thin air. I’ll work as many hours as necessary. I’ve never shied away from hard work.”.
