Dubbed the Godfather of Punk, music legend Iggy Pop, 78, proves he can still capture his fans’ attention during his concerts from start to finish. That said, the Wild One hitmaker’s latest show in Manchester, England, on Saturday was his most shocking yet. At nearly 80, Iggy Pop has no qualms at all about keeping his long-standing reputation of shirtless performances intact. But it was his final stage exit at the O2 Victoria Warehouse that left his fans not only amazed but seemingly creeped out, according to Radar Online.
Following his final song, Iggy Pop’s morbid stage exit gave his fans chills. The singer finished his finale set and jumped into a coffin to be wheeled off stage as his surprised fans watched in horror.
While many believed the act to be a little too morbid for their taste, Iggy Pop reveals having the time of his life with it, so much so that the singer took to X to post the video and ask fans to flood his social media with witty and interesting captions. He also captioned the post with Iggy Pop’s words of wisdom, “London was a hoot! How you exit is equally important to how you enter.”
Iggy Pop, whose real name is James Newell Osterberg Jr., is on his Lust For Life Tour. His next show is in Glasgow on Wednesday. As far as retirement goes, Iggy reveals that, at this time, he has no plans to slow things down.
Iggy Pop Continues To Deliver Madness
The singer reveals that he performed 40 shows last year, and continues to love every insane moment. “I’m just somebody who’s lucky that I found something to do when I was a pre-teen, and I can still do it,” he said.
However, he admits that, over the years, he has toned it down a bit with some of the more physical stage acts. For instance, he says he gave up stage diving a couple of years ago. “I’m not doing that right now. I hit my limit,” said Iggy of the risky performance move.
Iggy admits he prefers to spend the majority of his time performing for his fans. However, during his downtime, the singer says he enjoys spending his days by the sea with his feet up. But it is something he only does a couple of times a year.
“I’d expect nothing less of Iggy Pop,” one fan wrote. “What a wild and unforgettable way to end a concert! Only Iggy Pop could pull something like this off.” “Iggy is and will always remain a legend,” one more adds.
Iggy Pop rose to fame as a member of the Stooges in the 1960s. As a solo artist, he’s released 19 studio albums since 1977. He is best known for his hit songs, which include “Lust For Life,” “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” and “I Feel Alright.” He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
The singer will continue his 2025 Lust For Life tour in Glasgow, United Kingdom, on June 3, before heading to Ireland.
