Legendary music icon Rod Stewart is taking a personal inventory of his life. The singer, who will turn 80 on January 10, reveals that he often thinks about death these days. However, he admits that he ‘has no fear’ and has come to terms with knowing his ‘days are numbered.’
He also admits that he has no desire to tone his rock and roll lifestyle down even the slightest. The hard-partying live life to the fullest rocker has been going strong for more than five decades and plans to continue enjoying himself to the fullest during his last days.
Rod Stewart spoke with The Sun and shared his thoughts and plans. He says, “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can.”
Despite his personal reflections, Rod Stewart’s love for his fans remains unwavering. He continues to deliver electrifying performances to sold-out crowds, such as his final Las Vegas Residency show, The Hits, at The Colosseum, Caesars Palace. His high-energy performances, complete with balloons dropping from the ceiling and multiple costume changes, are a testament to his dedication to his audience.
Rod Stewart Still Enjoys Boozing It Up Nightly
Rod admits proudly that he still “goes mad” on the booze after each show. He even encourages his dancers and musicians to knock it back.
Stewart says, “I’m not like I was in the ’70s and ’80s and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that.
“Before the show I have a quick Bacardi which I am trying to convince myself is good for my voice. After a show we all get stuck into the Martinis. Most bands all go home and go to bed but we don’t. We have a big old party.”
On a more serious note, all hard work, fun, and games aside, Rod Stewart claims he stays on top of his health more these days and enjoys keeping himself fit. He boasts that at 79, he is not required to take any pills. Occasionally, he will take an anti-inflammatory if his knee acts up, but he claims that is very rare.
As Rod’s 13-year Vegas residency approaches an end, he is thankful for his life and the opportunities he has been given. Rod Stewart has a great outlook on life. Despite facing facts about his approaching demise, he wants his fans to know that he has every intention of sticking around. At least 15 more years. “I have had a good time and a good life. I’ve enjoyed myself, so I wouldn’t ask for anything more.”
