The height of the COVID-19 pandemic was quite a time, with many claiming the catastrophe was all a ploy while millions across the world suffered. And while former 9-1-1 actor Rockmond Dunbar didn’t deny the virus’s existence, he was quite the tin foil hat wearer with the vaccine. “Man created the COVID-19 vaccine to separate you from God,” the father of four claimed. Disney was allegedly not on board with his open beliefs and terminated him from his role on the show. He sued Disney in retaliation back in 2022, but has now lost the lawsuit in court.
Variety reports that Disney-owned 20th Television stated it was pleased with the lawsuit’s result, claiming that it “acted fairly and lawfully toward Mr. Dunbar.” Dunbarโs attorney criticized Disney for its decision to fire the Prison Break alum, saying that it shouldn’t be up to an employer to question anyone’s beliefs. While that may be true to a certain extent, the claims that Rockmond Dunbar made definitely would have put both the 9-1-1 show and the rest of the actors in a negative light, something which Disney couldn’t let happen.
For example, Rockmond Dunbar told the court that the COVID vaccine has claimed more lives than the virus itself. He believes there are chemicals in the shot that make it dangerous and a “ridiculous concept.” Rockmond Dunbar also made sure that none of his children were vaccinated despite claiming not to be an anti-vaxxer. Again, putting himself and his family at risk was clearly not the reason for his termination; it was because he was vocal about it. He was only “sorry” about his beliefs after he got fired, a job that was reportedly earning him $100,000 per episode.
While this lawsuit’s result is an unfortunate ending for Rockmond Dunbar’s family, most feel that the outcome is well-deserved. “What a bozo,” laughs a Reddit user. “Good. It was such a stupid lawsuit that wasted time and resources,” added another commenter. “Maybe God will pay his bills,” joked a third. “Takes a lot for me to root for Disney but he did it lol,” exclaimed a fourth. Many might recall that Disney recently received quite the backlash when it tried to silence Jimmy Kimmel for his Charlie Kirk comment. Yet, in this story, it appears the megacorporation did the right thing with Dunbar and his controversial statements.
It’s ironic, seeing how Rockmond Dunbar saw the COVID vaccine as the ‘devil’s medicine’ when he himself allegedly takes 37 medications, according to the court.
