While it may not have got the recent GTA: The Trilogy remaster right, there’s no question that Rockstar is an industry leader. The studio has a long track record of producing innovative and critically acclaimed titles. In particular, one notable feature of its history is harnessing cutting-edge video game technology, and a new report from game actor Michael Ursu’s public resume suggests that might very well continue moving forward. Specifically, Rockstar could be working on a VR game.
Actor Michael Ursu’s Resume Mentions a VR Game by Rockstar Games
As spotted by a Resetera user, actor Michael Ursu’s resume mentions an undisclosed VR game from Rockstar Games (which has since been removed). That’s a list of the projects he worked on before, including a few more titles already revealed. It’s already known a GTA San Andreas VR port is on the way, but the actor’s mention seems more likely an entire game project. It’s still possible this could be in reference to the GTA San Andreas port, so make sure you take our speculation with a pinch of salt.
Indeed, VR games need a great deal more development than conventional ones, and Rockstar isn’t a company that releases VR games every year. In fact, its only VR game release was L.A. Noire‘s VR DLC. You would have thought that now isn’t a good time to try new stuff while the team was already working on the world’s biggest budget game. Still, the actor’s reference is certainly interesting, though, and we hope to find out what’s going on with Rockstar’s VR projects.
As for the anticipated GTA 6, according to the latest reports, it could be launched in 2024.
