International publisher PQube and indie developer Playstark have announced their upcoming rogue-lite shooter entitled Die After Sunset. The teams aim to release the full game sometime in 2022, but they’re nearly ready to bring the title to Early Access on Steam.
Shoot, Loot, Die, Try Again. Then Again, in Die After Sunset
The Murkor invasion is underway, and the people are in serious trouble. In Die After Sunset, you’ll go up against hordes of colorful enemies who plan to take down the sun and all of light. Once the light is out, they turn into vicious beasts hellbent on completing their invasion.
In a nutshell, Die After Sunset is a hectic third-person rogue-lite title filled with vibrant settings and a plethora of abilities. It’s designed around procedurally-generated levels that’ll switch up the types of quests, foes, weapons, and power-ups found during gameplay. One run-through will not be the same as the next one, adding a promising layer of replayability to the game.
One important detail in the game’s design is the day-and-night cycle. It’s here where the game’s meta-progression and continuous upgrades will come in handy. In-between the stages, you’ll gather plenty of XP and farm any essential equipment. Continue to play and a variety of unlockable stats, abilities, and characters will be at your disposal.
Announcement Trailer
Every individual run will feature a different layout with a gigantic beast to face when the countdown comes to a close. If you fail – well, you can always just try again, which is humorously emphasized in the game’s announcement trailer.
Die After Sunset will be launching onto Steam Early Access later this year, with two single-player levels ready to roll. Playstark and PQube will frequently update the game throughout its alpha run. Down the line, there will be free updates for Die After Sunset that will include co-op, additional arenas, more characters, and other game modes.
Players can expect the game to drop onto PC via Steam and consoles in 2022. You can register now for the invite-only beta through their website here. In the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam to stay up-to-date with its Early Access process. If you’re seeking a fresh rogue-lite in the second half of 2021, this title might be up your alley.
