The early to mid-2000s was an interesting time for gaming. The scene was only recently getting into 3D games, opening up many possibilities for new games. It was a time filled with much fresh air for the gaming world, and an exciting one for those just getting into it. One such series that was born out of that time was RollerCoaster Tycoon, a set of games based around building rollercoasters. The sandbox gives a lot, especially for a 2004 release. The games are timeless, which is why today’s news is rather exciting. The team at Frontier Developments is excited to announce that RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition is coming to PC and, for the first time, Nintendo Switch. You can find the announcement trailer for the game below.
What’s New in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition?
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition breathes new life into the original 2004 title. This is primarily done through some enhanced visuals. You can expect a lot of the janky, half done character renders to still be in place, but everything is now upscaled to 1080p. This gives the game a much higher level of quality and is much more appealing to the eye. There’s also optimized controls for quality-of-life, and both the Soaked! and Wild! expansion packs brought into the mix. As the name suggests, this is a complete package given a few refinements as well for PC players.
It’s interesting to see RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 finally make its way to Nintendo Switch. It’s weird seeing any management game of this style come to the platform. I wouldn’t doubt though that the controls and well refined and polished, given the work done to the PC version. I’m concerned but optimistic about the release and will be having a look to see what’s changed. For now, I’d like to hear what you have to say about this release.
