Kate Middleton reveals two surprising connections between her life in Norfolk and Meghan Markle‘s new lifestyle brand, As Ever. The Princess of Wales made a surprising visit to Pontypridd with her husband Prince William this week, marking their first joint outing in a year. Prior to that, the couple have attended to several royal engagements individually, as Kate gradually returns to life as a working royal after a daunting battle with cancer.
Their visit had its fair share of hiccups, with the royals encountering an hour-long delay due to train disruptions. Eventually, Prince William and Kate Middleton made it to their destination, making a stop at the Pontypridd Market, where they got their hands muddied up making traditional Welsh cakes. Wiliam credited his baking knowledge to TV, giving a special nod to famed cook Mary Berry.
Kate Middleton’s Striking New Passion Upstages Meghan Markle’s Rebrand

The parents of three also met with members of the local community, including young kids who spent their time nurturing their passion for gardening. While interacting with the children, Kate Middleton became elated upon learning about some of their gardening endeavors, including growing plums and pureeing them into jam. An excited Kate then revealed she had a special jam recipe, promising to send it over so they could try it.
In the spur of the moment, the 43-year-old went on to disclose that she recently picked up foraging, an activity that involves sourcing wild edible plants, flowers and mushrooms. The princess admitted that although still learning to forage, she’d already managed to impress her three kids with one of her latest finds— a huge puffball mushroom. Kate Middleton’s admission comes amid her sister-in-law Meghan Markle’s plans to launch her lifestyle brand, As Ever which would feature a line of products like jam, dried flower sprinkles and gardening tools among other items.
Meghan Lays Claim to the Royal Jam Monopoly

The Duchess of Sussex has been open about her love for gardening, with some of her products harvested straight out of her Montecito garden. Meghan would offer viewers a glimpse into her gardening adventures in her upcoming Netflix cooking and gardening show, With Love, Meghan, which hits the streamer on March 4.
Additionally, the duchess recently revealed her intention to launch her rebranded lifestyle business, As Ever, on the same date. In a video announcing the rebrand, the star teased her status as the jam queen, saying “You all know jam is my jam.” She further solidified her presence in the jam sphere last year, sending out jars of jam to 50 of her celebrity friends in pre-launch efforts for her now-defunct brand, America Riviera Orchard.
After striving for so long to get the royal jam “monopoly,” having Kate Middleton highlight a special jam recipe from the royal archives just days before Meghan Markle’s brand launch seems like a sabotaging effort. Even worse, the royal sabotage of her new brand is one the duchess can hardly afford at this point, given the many setbacks she faces over her rebranding, and struggles to win big with her upcoming Netflix series.
