The RTX 3090 Ti would automatically become Nvidia’s highest-end gaming graphics card whenever it is announced. The RTX 3090 is already a monster. There aren’t concrete rumors on how much more powerful the 3090 Ti will be compared to the 3090. However, it is rumored that the Ti model will have a 450W TDP compared to the 3090’s 350W TDP. If true, that’s a massive bump in power usage so, hopefully, the gains would match such a jump.
For reference, the RTX 3080 Ti provides around 10% higher performance than the RTX 3080. Similarly, the RTX 3070 Ti is only around 5-10% better than the RTX 3070. However, given the massive shortages that graphics cards are still under, it’s often a case of buying whatever card is available rather than comparing spec to spec. If the RTX 3090 Ti is more readily available, many gamers will buy it because they can buy it.
Based on current leaks, the RTX 3090 Ti is expected to be announced on January 4. The expected release date for the graphics card is January 27. The RTX 3090 Ti box leaking certainly suggests the announcement is coming sooner rather than later. However, as many PC gamers now know, take the expected release date with a pinch of salt. Even if the RTX 3090 Ti is released on January 27, that doesn’t necessarily mean people will be able to buy them. For all of the RTX 3000 series graphics cards released thus far, the launch dates have been more like guidelines for the majority of consumers. The cards have typically gone out of stock immediately and gamers have been left trying to hunt them down from day one. Nvidia also says that the situation isn’t likely to get better until, hopefully, the second half of next year.
