Rumer Willis comes from entertainment royalty as the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, so it’s not surprising that she’s pursued a career as an actress, but her latest project may be her most exciting one yet! A teaser for her new film, Trail of Vengeance, was shared on Instagram, and it has been met with great excitement.
The indie Western drama was directed by Johnny Remo and stars Rumer Willis and Gbenga Akinnagbe. The film is set in 1875 and sees Willis’ character become unexpected allies with Akkinagbe’s character in the hope of getting justice for her murdered husband. The cast also includes Eric Nelsen, Graham Greene, and Jeff Fahey. The main stars were tagged on the Instagram post, and Willis reacted with a message about the project.

Willis reacted to the post with a message of support and excitement. “Let’s go!!!! My favorite cowboys. I love y’all,” she wrote. Akkinagbe also commented, writing, “Congratulations my friend!!!”
It appears that many people are looking forward to the release of this film, which will be out in theaters and for digital download on May 23 (so not long to wait if you’re a fan of Westerns). Some of the standout reactions include, “This looks awesome and I love a good western…kudos to all,” “Look forward to seeing it!,” and “So proud of this film! You all knocked it out of the park!”
The director has previously shared his thoughts on the project in a statement to Deadline in 2024. “We are beyond excited to start shooting ‘Broken Trail’ and bring this powerful story to the screen,” Remo said. “Working with such a talented cast and dedicated crew is truly an honor, and we can’t wait for audiences to see the result of our collective passion and hard work.”
The cast is most certainly talented, and talent is something that Willis has discussed before. She has also addressed her very famous parents and how following in their footsteps can be a burden.
“You can’t do anything about who your parents are. I think everyone has opportunities, and everyone has doors that are open to them in different ways. If you’re talented you’ll get work,” she said in 2009, per Celebitchy. “If you suck then you won’t.”
She stressed the importance of talent, which is true; however, the term ‘nepo baby’ is used for a reason, and the offspring of influential entertainment figures have indeed benefited from their parents’ connections and success. This comment applies to the industry as a whole, but not to every actor. It is certainly not to say that Willis does not deserve the roles she lands or that she has used her family name to land them,
Some of her most significant projects to date include appearances in Soroity Row, Wild Cherry, Now and Then, and Hostage. 2025 is also already looking like a promising year for her professionally, as she has been announced for a role in the television series Doctor Oddessy.
