Rumor: Splinter Cell Might Finally Return, Not as a New Game, But as a Fortnite Collab

Out of the shadows, into a Battle Royale

Have you been waiting for the rightful and much-needed return of Sam Fisher to the video gaming landscape? Well, you can keep waiting because, according to rumors, Splinter Cell will first get a collab with Fortnite instead of a standalone game. Since this information comes from links, take it with a grain of salt. However, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched. Time and again, Ubisoft has shown that Sam Fisher fits everywhere except for a video game of his own. Even the long-awaited remake is somewhere in development limbo with no news about it.

According to prominent leaker Shiina, a new collaboration between Splinter Cell and Fortnite could be coming. Again, this is just a rumor, and nothing has been set in stone, but with Fortnite introducing many franchises to its Battle Royale, it isn’t wild to believe.

Assuming it happens, we might likely see a Sam Fisher skin, some back-bling, and probably something else. Now, I’ll be the first one to tell you that I’d love to see Sam Fisher back in action again. But not like this. Yes, Fortnite is great at doing crossovers, and it is nice to rock a Solid Snake skin while dancing to any of the meme moves the Battle Royale has made popular. However, the way the industry has treated Sam Fisher is terrible. Blacklist was a hit or miss for some, and while it was nice to see him in Breakpoint, what more is there for him? A Battle Royale skin, it seems.

Again, take this with a grain of salt, as it has not been confirmed, but the odds are it may happen. Now, if we all inhale a bit of that sweet “hopium,” could it be Ubisoft telling us about Fisher’s long-awaited return? At this point, dreaming doesn’t hurt, and it’s all we’ve been doing as Splinter Cell fans.
